The Clyde River and Batemans Bay Historical Society

(Accredited under the National Standards for Australian Museums and Galleries)

Fundraising Activities

(Note: The Clyde River and Batemans Bay Historical Society Inc is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC): ABN 24 004 213 040)

The Book Emporium has become a key source of fundraising for the Society, since it was opened in April 2014. Books can be viewed and/or purchased, by simply asking one of the volunteers, on duty during standard opening hours. Donations of good quality books can made during opening hours, and outside of those hours by simply placing on the trolley, to the left of the Staff Entrance, on the Verandah.  We thank you for your generosity and support.

The Museum uses a range of methods to raise funds to support the development, maintenance and display of its collections. In addition to the Book Emporium, these include:

  • Rostered BBQs in the car park of Bunnings Warehouse, Batemans Bay;
  • Museum Entrance Fees;
  • Gold coin donations during museum opening hours and Open Days; and
  • BBQs at local community events.

In addition, the museum is eligible to apply for grants from local, State and Commonwealth government and commercial organisations. In the recent past, such grants have enabled the following projects to be undertaken:

  • $10,060 for a building improvement program (Museums and Galleries NSW);
  • $2,000 for a Significance Assessment of two ISNC Shipping Ledgers (M&GNSW);
  • $44,000 for a roof sprinkler and drenching system - Community Partnership (State);
  • $10,000 for developing an antique machinery shed and refurbishing a shed to exhibition standard IMB Foundation.

Furthermore, the museum acknowledges the assistance provided through its community and commercial partnerships. These include donations of timber, paint and related building materials from the local branches of Bunnings Warehouse, Camerons, and Inspirations, in addition to two demountable storage units from Telstra. All community partnerships are noted on our ‘With Thanks Board’ at the entrance to the Museum and included in our Newsletter. You can access websites of the above commercial sponsors by simply navigating to the 'Community Links' Page under the main Header 'Schools' above.
